About the programme

A six-month paid learning curve

We offer six months of paid, remote, flexible work.

Your starting rate will be €11.80 EUR per hour (approx $12.60 USD), for around 20 hours per week.

Social Studio will look great on your CV! We will help you find your next job at the end of your apprenticeship.

It’ll be fun – we know this! – and rich in learning for you and us.

Communications

with purpose

Your job will be to manage social media for one or more purpose driven organisations, supported by the experienced AMS team.

Your clients’ work is making the world a better place.

With our team, you will tackle the ethics and complexities of digital communication and storytelling, for nonprofits and social enterprises.

Different ways of working

Experience freelance and agency style work, and decide for yourself which you prefer.

Through regular webinars, our experienced team will share their journeys, tips and challenges, to help you progress.

Support, feedback, diversity

You will be working in a caring (virtual) environment with team members from different countries and backgrounds.

We are actively looking for people with non-traditional educational backgrounds and diverse stories. YOU are welcome here!

Eligibility and selection criteria

  1. You must be interested in working in communications and/or digital media.
  2. You must have completed a social media course, at any institution globally or online. As long as you have completed the course, you don’t have to have paid for the certificate. You will be required to submit a piece of your coursework or previous work, with your application to Social Studio.
  3. We are looking for people with a story to tell. Perhaps you’ve overcome a challenge or disadvantage, thrive with a disability, or have been affected by migration, conflict, poverty, or discrimination. We are looking for a diverse cohort, from different countries and educational backgrounds. Important note: YOU own your story and we do not expect you to commodify it for this programme. We ask some questions to be sure that the Social Studio opportunity is offered equitably, and because we want you to feel you can bring your whole self to work.
  4. You must be able to get a high speed internet connection for at least 5 hours per working day. We can help with the cost of your internet subscription, laptop, or other reasonable setup expense.
  5. You can apply from any country in the world. Most of the team works in or near the Central European (CET) time zone, and it would be helpful if you can be online during at least two hours of the European working day.
  6. You must be able to take responsibility and self-manage. You will have tasks that we count on you to complete, and while you will receive guidance and support at every step, you also need to be able to take initiative.
  7. You must speak and read good English. The team’s working language is English so you must speak and read fluently. Accurate written English is an advantage. You would score 7 or higher on an IELTS English test, or at least 115 on the Duolingo English test. We may ask you to do a test, paid for by us. You can test your level for free, using the Duolingo practice test here.

About the role

We will orient your role around your skills and interests. Some typical tasks and skills include:

  1. Social media tactics, advice, strategy,
  2. Content creation, including graphics, videos, and/or copywriting
  3. Content gathering. If logistics permit, you might be out-and-about gathering content about your clients’ work.
  4. Strategy design and/or advice on strategy design
  5. Ad buying
  6. Community engagement and interaction
  7. Analytics and reporting on the impact of digital media
  8. Newsletter copywriting

This will all be subject to change depending on clients’ needs, team feedback, and your preferences.

Why did we create the Social Studio?

Angela M Solomon Consultancy exists to help purpose driven people do more.

Through the AMS Social Studio we are investing in young people by sharing opportunities and expertise.

We also want to offer an affordable, high quality service to small organisations who need help with their digital media communications. The scheme is non-profit but we hope to cover costs through financial contributions from client organisations.

Our vision is to strengthen the strategy and communications of 1,000 purpose driven organisations, by 31 December 2025. That’s a big goal and we need a big community to get there!
